Roof (Build Guide Phase 4)

1. Deck — 19/32 sanded plywood, B face down, PSCL clips at the course seam (planned Tue Oct 6).
2. ProArmor — dry-in; a safe pause point.
3. Eave trim — ProArmor bands on the east and west walls, then the eave fascia and shadow board.
4. Gable ends — plywood strips and band, then the rake fascia and shadow board.
5. Drip edge — eaves under the loose ProArmor strip; rakes over it.
6. Shingles — scrap test of the 3/4″ nails first.

Then the roof is done. Temporary bracing can come out: ridge diagonals and props after the deck; wall braces whenever convenient after the deck; the spreader after the shingles (Ridge Bracing).

Walls and finish (Build Guide Phase 5)

1. Finalize the window and door details — window sill pan and sill board, stops, casing widths and head drip cap; door threshold and its flashing; gable vent model. These set the cut lines and the flashing.
2. Cut the two window openings out of the sheathing, cleanly to the framing; cover them temporarily (plastic or plywood scrap).
3. Flash the openings — sill pans and jamb flashing tape in the windows; threshold membrane at the door.
4. Wall felt — about 2 rolls of #30 from a roofing supply house, cap-stapled, bottom up and lapped around each opening: felt below a window first, sill flashing over it; jamb flashing over the felt's cut edges; head flashing (drip cap) with the felt above lapped over it. Cut and set the gable vents in the same pass.
5. Trim — corner boards, window trim (sill, casings, drip cap over the head casing) and the door casing down to the bottom of the wall, all over the flashing.
6. Cedar wall shingles — butt into the trim. Freeman nailer; pick the nail length (1-1/4″ or 1-1/2″) and buy the stainless coils first.
7. Sash — rehab any time; install with the stops after the shingles, so the old glass misses the hammering. The openings stay flashed, trimmed and covered until then.
8. Doors — build, set the glass panels, hang.
9. Ramp — cut the plywood strip out below the door, fasten the ramp to the rim joist, tuck it under the threshold.
10. Paint — accent color on the doors, sash and stops, chosen against the Weathered Gray roof.
11. Floor — prep and paint once the floor plywood is dry; fill the brace screw holes during prep.
12. Interior liner and pegboard — any time after dry-in.
13. Finish up — remove the last temporary bracing, clear the gravel gap along the fence side, build the fieldstone skirt.

Decisions still open

Needed for the roof (soon)

• Eave fascia: flush with the shadow board, or raised ~7/8″ (before the eave trim)
• Optional center-post rim supports (only worth it before shingling)

Needed before the wall felt

• Window sill pan, sill board, stops, casing and drip cap
• Door threshold detail
• Gable vent model

Needed later

• Wall-shingle nail length (1-1/4″ or 1-1/2″), before buying the coils
• Cedar starter overhang (1″ vs 1/4″ in different docs), before the cedar shingles
• Finish on the rafters and ceiling (needs re-visiting)
• Paint accent color
